I'm Matt with etrailer and today we're talking about the Yakima roof rack on top of our 2022 Honda CR-V. And it's gonna be a great option if you're going on a trip and you need to store some extra luggage because maybe you have some friends and family with you and you can't put it on inside your vehicle, especially if you already have a hitch that's being used by either a trailer or something else or you don't have a hitch at all. And it's really gonna be good if you have any longer items that you can't fit into the back of your vehicle anyways. It's important you know what kind of roof you have, so way you can check is right now we do have a naked roof and that means we're not gonna have any type of rail on top. Rhino Rack Roof Rack Installation - 2016 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today we have a 2016 Honda Odyssey and we're gonna be taking a look at the rhino rack RT style roof rack track aero bar system. There are two different types of roof rack systems you can put on a naked roof. Typically, what you see is with normal vehicles unlike vans is we have these little clamps that go in the door jams, but since we have this it's preventing us from doing that. So that's why the tracks are gonna be in that fit guide, whenever you put that vehicle in. I really like the track system, just because it gives you the ability to slide these around when it comes to the other style clamp naked roof sets that you may be seeing, we're kind of limited to where we need to put them. Half the time in the instructions it tells you to put it in a specific spot and you're kind of limited there. more

In/Out LED Rocker Switch Installation - 2020 Honda Pioneer 1000-5- Video

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2017 Honda Civic- Video

Hi, there Civic owners. Today in your 2017 Honda Civic, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmasters battery disconnect switch. The battery disconnect switch is a high powered solenoid switch that is going to allow you to disengage or reengage your battery positive cable where it connects to your battery. This is particularly useful for your Civic because when you place it into flat tow mode, it's recommended to disconnect your battery to keep it from draining. So instead of having to pop the hood every time you want to flat tow, get out your wrench, and unscrew everything here and take it off, we can just simply press a button that we've mounted inside the vehicle. Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2016 Honda Pilot- Video

Speaker 1: Today in our 2016 Honda Pilot, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Round Bar Roof Rack System consisting of part numbers Y00409, these are the round crossbars on the top here, and these are 58 inches long.We'll also be using part number Y03536, and this is the Round Bar Adapter Kit for the Yakima towers.We'll also be using part number Y00146. These are the Baseline Towers designed for naked roofs.Finally, to attach it to the vehicle, we're using the Base Clip Fit Kit part number Y06152.This is going to be the same for the rear bars as well. These are great sturdy cross bars for your roof, and car carry a wide variety of accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers, excuse me, cargo baskets, and cargo boxes.While, they are exceptionally sturdy, they do cause noise while you drive. Now, you can purchase fairings that you can find on etrailer.com to help cut down that wind noise and drag, or you can upgrade to the Yakima core bars that also utilize this tower system.Moving onto the towers themselves, at the end caps here, we do have these plastic portions that can be removed and replaced with the Yakima SKS Lock Core System, so you can secure it to your vehicle and make it key to like with the accessories that you're hauling.Removing our end cap here you can see how everything attaches to the vehicle itself. Here's what our 6-pole round connector looks like installed on the front of our CR-V. You see, it's a nice, compact unit that mounts solid to our base plate. We have a spring-loaded dustcover here to protect our connector when it's not in use. When we're ready to hook up to our motor home, we simply take our 6-pole round umbilical, make sure the slot here is at the top, insert it, push until it stops. In certain situations when you're going down a road and you're driving for a very long time, sometimes on your towed vehicle you have to have the key in an on or accessory position, and sometimes that'll drain down the battery across time. What this supplies is a trickle charge to your battery to help maintain whatever the current draw that's on your towed vehicle. Today on this 2006 Honda CR-V, we're going to review and install a Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit, part number RM-146-7. Okay, so let's go ahead and cover the parts that come with the kit. First off, we've got our seven pole connector that will go up to your RV, and your six pole connector that will go out to your car. Now if your towed vehicle doesn't have a six pole on it, it does come with one if you need to add one on to it, which is what we're going to do today. Some hardware, and a mounting bracket for the six pole as well. A couple of notes about our cable here. One is that this will actually stretch out to eight foot in length, and then return to its original shape. more

Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2016 Honda CR-V- Video

Today on our 2016 Honda CRV, we're going to be testing the Yakima round bar roof rack system, consisting of part numbers Y00409, these are the round 58 inch cross bars, part number Y00146, these are the baseline tower for the Yakima cross bars, and part number Y03536, which is the round bar SL adapter kit for the Yakima baseline towers, and part numbers Y06148 and Y06152, which are the base clip fit kits for the Honda CRV. The Yakima round bar roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle for you and your family. The two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. Both of the end caps do come with knock outs which you can replace with the Yakima same key system so you can actually utilize this with your Yakima accessories and make everything key alike. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here, and our next step is to install our base tower to the other end of our bar. So we'll take our baseline tower, take this plastic adapter piece, and that gets pushed on the top here till you hear a couple clicks. Then we'll take our round bar adapter, place that, line up with the screw, then we'll come around to the front of the baseline tower, pull this portion out so we can see the screw that we need to tighten down with our included tool. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2008 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha Voyage trailer brake controller, part number 39510, in conjunction with part number ETBC7, which is the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers. This is what it looks like once it's installed in the vehicle. This Voyager brake controller is a proportional controller, which means it activates immediately, unlike with time-delayed brake controllers, and the harder you push the pedal in the vehicle, the more it will apply the brakes on the trailer. If you're looking for a simple, easy-to-use brake controller, this is definitely going to be a good option. The ease of use is also something that makes this one different from some of the other ones that are out there. Unlike some of the other brake controllers out there, there aren't a whole lot of different buttons in order to change settings. You've just got a couple dials on the side. In order to use this brake controller, the first thing I want to point out is, right up here we've got this little green LED light. more

Today on our 2008 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be showing you how to install the ETBC7. This is a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers. It offers both the 7-way RV and a 4-way flat plug and 10-gauge wires. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. To begin our installation, we're going to figure out where we're going to mount our 7-pole and our 4-pole flat connector here on the back of the vehicle. Now of course, if you're putting in a brake controller, you're going to have a hitch. Since this one doesn't have the welded on tab or anything like that that comes off of it, we're going to use a To Ready long bracket, part number 18136. more

Today on this 2014 Honda CRV, we're going to show you the Roadmaster 6 Wire Flexo-coil kit, part number RM-146. Okay, this is what you get with the part number. We've got our flexible cord right here that constricts down to maybe a little over a foot, so it packs away real nice and easy; two six-pole ends that'll plug into two more six pole ends. One goes into your RV and the other end will go on to your towed vehicle. Now our case, our RV already has a six pole installed so we don't have to worry about doing that part, but this is also good to have on hand when that other part on the RV eventually wears out. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Honda Pilot- Video

Today on this 2007 Honda Pilot, we're going to install part number 5100. This is a DrawTite activator trailer brake controller. To help us with our install, we'll be using a couple additional part numbers. We'll be using part number ETBC7 and also a short bracket, part number 18140 from Tow Ready. This is a short universal mounting bracket. To start off, we're going to mount our short bracket since we need something for our 7-pole connector to mount to. We'll take the clamp and run it through the bracket and then the clamp over the hitch. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2011 Honda Odyssey 5506- Video

Today on our 2011 Honda Odyssey, we'll be installing the wiring necessary to connect the hot lead for our 7 pull trailer connector, part number 5506, and wiring to connect the reverse light circuit using the Deka 16 gauge wire, part number 16-1-1. First we'll need to locate the wiring to connect to. We'll go ahead and pull it down from above the hitch. Once we can gain access to it, we'll go ahead and remove the electrical tape covering it up. We'll need to locate 3 leads. A purple wire for reverse light circuit, a black wire for the hot lead, and a blue wire for the electric brake circuit, should it be hooked up in the future. Once we've located our wiring, we'll now move to the reverse light circuit on the vehicle that we'll need to connect to. more

Today on this 2003 Honda Pilot we're going to install part number 90885. This is Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller. We'll also be using part number ETBC7, Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers, and a bracket for our 7-pole connector which will be part number 18140, the Universal Mounting Bracket. First thing we're going to do is go ahead and get our vehicle ready. Our ETBC7 kit comes with a 7-pole connector and the brackets and all the hardware necessary for installation. However, this is designed to go only to a regular 4-pole flat. It really won't work on this type of specialized connector. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Honda Pilot ETBC7- Video

Today in this 2007 Honda Pilot, we're going to install brake controller using part number ETBC-7. The brake controller we're going to use at the end to install will be part number 90885, the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. To start off our install, we need to get our 4 pole free from its mount. We'll go ahead and remove from the bracket and get it pushed out away for now. Then we'll install a new bracket for our ETBC-7 kit. The bracket we're going to use to attach our 7 pole to the hitch will be 18136. more

Transmission Cooler Installation - 2014 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2014 Honda Odyssey, we'll be installing the Derale Series 8000 Plate Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part number D13502. Now to begIn our install, we'll first go ahead and open up the hood. We'll need to remove the top engine cover, those between the grill in the front core support. To do this, we'll remove the multiple push pin fasteners that secure the plastic cover and air intake. Well to remove the push pin fasteners, we'll go and pull Next, we'll then remove the 2 fasteners here, the top and secure the grill to the core support. Now with that done, we'll move to the wheel wells. To make it easier to remove the 2 screw fasteners inside the wheel well, we'll go ahead and turn the wheel inside while working on the driver's side and then inside while we're working on the passenger's side. Now with those fasteners out of the way, we'll move underneath the vehicle, we'll remove multiple fasteners that secure the front fascia and lower rock guard for both screw and push pin fasteners. Now with all the fasteners removed, we'll go ahead and pull the lower rock guard out and set it aside. It's a good idea "to get an extra set of" 00:01:20 hands as we'll remove the front fascia. To remove the front fascia, we'll pull out on the corner of the fascia where it needs to wheel well, releasing the fasteners underneath. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2014 Honda Odyssey we'll be installing the etrailer universal installation brake controller install kit part number ETBC7. To begin our install we'll first need to locate the four pole flat harness already installed on the vehicle. Now since this is mounted inside the vehicle and we'll need to get it routed outside the vehicle we'll need to remove the rear threshold. To remove the rear threshold remove the two cargo fasteners, one on each side. We use a flat blade screwdriver or an interior trim panel tool while pulling up and out on the threshold to release the fasteners underneath. Now, once the fasteners release we'll go ahead and set the threshold aside. Underneath the threshold is a manufacturers grommet. more

Tow Ready 4-Pole Mounting Bracket Installation - 2012 Honda Odyssey- Video

Now today on our 2012 Honda Odyssey, we'll be installing the tow ready mounting bracket for a 4 pole flat, part number 18144. This vehicle here already has a 4 pole flat installed as well as a trailer hitch receiver. Currently the 4 pole flat is just looped through the safety chain eyelet on the trailer hitch. We're going to go ahead and install the tow ready 4 pole mounting bracket that will get the wiring away from the safety chain loop. As well as keep it a little more secure and protect it. Now in conjunction with the 4 pole flat mounting bracket we're also going to be using the tow ready no-drill mounting bracket in the short style, part number 18140. We'll begin here by connecting the two brackets together with the supplied screw and nut in the two mounting locations. more

Transmission Cooler Installation - 2009 Honda CR-V- Video

Today on our 2009 Honda CRV, we're going to install part number D13502 from Derale. This is their transmission cooler. To start off, we're going to have to remove the front bumper fixture and grill to get access to the condenser for the AC. This is where the transmission cooler will attach to. We'll go ahead and open up the hood and there's a small panel on top with a number of fasteners and pop rivets that we can remove to take off the top panel. Now we'll move to the driver's side, and there will be two screws in the fender well, plus one more plastic rivet on the inside edge of the fender well that we have to remove. more

Yakima Roof Rack Fairing Review - 2012 Honda Civic- Video

Today on our 2012 Honda Civic sedan, we'll be test fitting the Yakima 44" fairing for roof rack cross bars, part number Y07048. Now with the roof rack system already assembled onto our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by first undoing the black wing nuts and silver bolts from each end of the fairing. We can then place the clamps over the front cross bar, and replace the silver bolts with the black wing nuts on each end of the fairing and tighten them down, which will secure the fairing to the cross bar. It is important to make sure that the fairing is centered onto the vehicle to help with the aerodynamics of the fairing. And that concludes today's test fit of the 44" fairing for Yakima roof rack cross bars, part number Y07048, on our 2012 Honda Civic sedan. more

Yakima Roof Rack Fairing Review - 2007 Honda Civic- Video

Today on our 2007 Honda Civic Sedan, we're going to be test fitting the 44-inch Fairing for Yakima Roof Racks, part number Y07048. To fit this fairing on top of our Yakima Roof Rack, we'll set it up on top of the roof and we'll snap the forward clips around our round crossbars. We'll make sure that the fairing is centered from left to right and then we'll take the wing nuts and use the wing nuts to tighten down the bolts on the two outer clips. And with that, our fairing is installed and we're ready to go. That does it for our test fit of Yakima's 44-inch Fairing for their roof rack crossbars, part number Y07048 on our 2007 Honda Civic Sedan. more

Yakima Roof Rack Fairing Review - 2012 Honda CR-V- Video

Today on this 2012 Honda CR-V, we're going to do a test fit of part number Y07048. This is the fairing for our Yakima roof racks. And now our Honda has already been equipped with the Yakima roof rack so all we got to do is attach it to the front crossbar. Our fairing has already been assembled according to instructions, so all we got to do is to install on the front crossbar. Basically, to fasten our snap on to the front crossbar, then we'll run a hard wire through and tighten it down. All right, and that's what it takes to install our fairing. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today we are going to install part number 90185 from Tekonsha, the Prodigy Brake Controller, and we will also use T-1 Connector part number 118438. And also we are going to use part number ETBC7 as the install kit for our 7-pole going up to our battery and the brake controller, on a 2009 Honda Odyssey. Our first step involved is we are actually going to install the T-connector first. Normally it installs behind this panel here, gets run underneath this threshold, and usually gets stored in the jack storage compartment. Since we are installing a brake controller and it is going to be using a 7-pole connector on top of it, so what is going to happen is we need to run our wire harness from the inside out. First off, we are going to take off this threshold here. We have to take off these anchor points. There are plastic pins throughout the bottom here, so what you need to do is pull this out gently until they pop out, like so. And once you have them all loose, just a gentle pull, pushing up on it, will pop the pins that are in here. The next step we are going to is we are going to go ahead and remove this panel. We will pull it out just a little bit so we can get access to the plug. The port is located on this assembly right here. It is on the top right-hand corner, and it is usually the only one that is open. And there is a separate ground right here which we attach to the factory ground right here. Next what we will do is we will secure our module here. And we will just put it back here - anywhere where it is convenient back behind the panel here. The next thing we want to do is go ahead and run our wire along the factory harness here, and then it will go straight down. And we have made a dimple right here where we are going to mark our - and drill a hole right here. So we are going to drill out a 1/2-inch hole. We drilled a 1/2-inch hole and installed a little simple, rubber grommet. Now what we are going to do is we are going to cut our wire up here and then we are going to feed it from the outside in. And we will make our reconnection up here. That way, at least we have some connections that are not outside all the time. We will go ahead and tape up our connections now, secure them up. And for now we are going to leave our access just like this. We will just put it underneath there - hide it underneath our carpet. And at this point we can go ahead and start putting the interior back together. more
